Underrated

I love the different direction they took with this album, it sounds unlike anything else Prong has done.
I'm not saying it's their best effort, but I really like it a lot.
I have to say that compared to the rest of their stuff, this one is really under-rated.
Not for everyone, but if you wanna hear something a little off of the beaten path, this is it.
Prong's "Experimental" Album

I'm a long time Prong fan but I've never been able to warm up to this album. Most bands that have been around for a long time have at least one album that baffles and even splits harcore fans. Scorpio Rising is Prongs. There seems to be a mix of Korn like low bass/rythms and melodic singing that's just too out of place for a Prong album. Listen to everything before and after this and it's easy to see why this album bombed.
1 star because of some song iTunes mixup?

Really? Are you that ignorant? You skew the entire review ratings for that?
Anyway, one of my all time favorite Prong CD’s. Less than 5 stars perhaps you need to start listening to another genre. Best metal ever.

I love this album. Granted, there are a few songs that could have been left off- and unusually, a few uninspired and dragging moments. As a 10-11 track album however, I would give it 5 stars. I didn't like it as much at first as compared to their other albums- it isn't as immediately enjoyable, but with repeated listenings, I've come to really appreciate this album. The good songs are as good as anything Prong has ever done. The intricate, choppy riffs, unusual time signatures, and artificial harmonics are all there. Let this one marinate awhile. It's an underrated gem in their catalog. In fact- their most underrated album.
Take it for what it is and for what it isn't.

This is a warm up session. After the indefinite hiatus following the masterpiece that is Rude Awakening, the future of Prong was uncertain to say the least. Thankfully, Victor got it back up and running albeit with a new (and changing) lineup. Is this one amazing? No. However, there are many strong elements of Prong all over this and it would be interesting to hear a few of them re-worked and/or re-recorded. The song, Reactive Mind could have been on Beg To Differ while Inner Truth borders on Rude Awakening and Cleansing. Entrance of the Eclipse is almost a spin off of Snap Your Fingers, but without ripping it off and totally different vocals and lyrics. Victor sounds heavier on this and even sings on a few which you began to hear on RA. Recommended for the die-hard prong fan, but definitely not a starting point. That would be Primitive Origins (pun intended).
