I remember walking into a record store, hearing strange sounds, and asking myself if Ae had a new album out. I was right, and while I could recognize their sonic signature, it was like nothing before or since. An amazing, expansive soundscape of an album. Their are tracks of pure texture, other tracks of robotic pop bliss, and I agree with the other reviewer, the last track is amazing, an epic unfolding of sorts...

This album has had as much staying power as anything I've had since I got it 14 years ago. It is pure Autechre bliss, and unique among their albums. It's got more of a trance-inducing flow to it. Get the whole album. The last track is awesome.

I can't believe nobody's reviewed this amazing album. i devoured this and rendevous with rama by arthur c. clarke one summer at the gulf coast of florida. i had just cut my hair in a sort of skinhead, "early space program" buzz ( which was really rather rare then believe it or not) and felt like i could see a future in space where everything was eternal and autechre provided the soundtrack with music made by robots for robots...even ones that collapse at water's edge. this music is the sound of love without emotion, just instinct and wires.
