Been a fan of Zooropa since day 1 and I thought I’d review it track by track: Zooropa-The title track opens this phenomenal album by continuing the experimentation U2 started with on Achtung Baby. From the very strange but interesting intro, to the voices in the background. Zooropa is a fan favorite for many U2 fans including me. Babyface-One of the more experimental U2 songs, I’m always in a good mood whenever I listen to this wonderful song! :-) Numb-Probably the most popular song on this album along with Lemon and Stay (Faraway, So Close!), this catchy number featuring don’t commands by The Edge, you cannot deny what a fabulous song this is! Lemon-Ok one of my personal and I repeat personal favorite songs not just by U2 and from Zooropa but from the 90’s, this song with it’s creative black and white video, introduced a new generation to U2 fans. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)-My favorite song from this album and just maybe my all time favorite song from 1993, this haunting track helped me through some really hard days and I can’t thank Bono and the boys for uplifting my spirits. Daddy’s Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car-Such a fantastic song. From the samples to The Edge’s unique guitar playing and Larry’s one of a kind drumming, I highly recommend U2 fans who don’t know this song to give it a listen! Some Days Are Better Than Others-My least favorite song on the album. Though I will admit it has a great message of perseverance and a great bassline from Adam! The First Time-For many years, I forgot about what a great song this is. I rediscovered it about 4 years ago during COVID and realized how much I love it! Bono said in U2 by U2 that it may be U2’s most special song. Dirty Day-The father and son song of all father and song, it was inspired by sayings Bono’s father would always say such as “I don’t know you and you don’t know the half of it.” or “Get it right there’s no blood thicker than ink.” The Wanderer-A brilliant song to close out a brilliant album. Johnny Cash’s gravelly voice suits the song perfectly.

Where do I start with Zooropa? The whole album is a masterpiece. This goes for Achtung Baby as well, but the way they experimented with new sounds while also sounding unmistakeably U2 is incredible. The whole album has an ethereal feel that I wish they did more of in later albums, especially The Wanderer. Amazing album that never gets old.

To this day this remains one of my favorite albums of the 90s. The album manages to perfectly encapsulate the more experimental aspect of the band, while retaining their emotional core intact. It's also one of those rare albums which manages to stay relevant, no matter what time you revisit it. Just wonderful.
  • The Wanderer is the perfect apocalyptic song for today’s End Times

The Wanderer by Johnny Cash is the perfect song for these End Times ! The song’s lyrics capture the amoral malaise of this technocratic and social media dependent era.

This is one of my personal favorite U2 albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. Also, this album has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next limited play album, and extended play album from U2.
