Pop - 28 years later

So I'm old enough to have bought this U2 release on CD when it dropped. I also saw the Popmart tour when it blew thru my town in 1997. I thought the album was a total dud back then but I have learned that with many truly great artists, you need to give their work some time to breath and then revisit. Well I guess 28 years is a lot of breathing time... My impressions on relistening to Pop now:
Last Night on Earth is a top 10 U2 song for me. Everthing about this song has aged well. I never get tired of hearing it. Miami and Do You Feel Loved stand up to the test of time - the lyrics on Miami (verse 1 in particular) are top shelf Bono. Discotheque is great on stage but just OK as an album track. The rest of the release is subpar for such a great band and I struggle to get through the tracks without hitting "skip" - This from a ride or die, been with the band since we both had acne fan.

The music from this album was best experienced LIVE at the POPMART TOUR in one of the most creative stadium sets ever. This POP music was intended to be In Your Face, Loud and Larger Than Life, and it was pulled off seamlessly. The stage, so in your face, was not in the end zone of the stadium as traditional but stretched along the sidelines one hundred yards. A truly unique musical experience from U2.
How did I miss how geat this album is?

It is almost embarrassing how much of a fan I am of U2....which is why I question my own self on how I missed how great this album is! I am re-discovering it by listening to the U2 channel on SiriusXM, and am finding a whole new appeciation for this album. You either "GET" U2, or you don't. For those of us who "GET" them realize their gift ~

My favorite U2 album by far and the songs from this album played live are even better then the studio version which is rare. I’ve never understood why this album was not as popular as their other work.
U2 - POP Review

In my opinion, this the best U2 album. The bass is electric and moving. The starts, stops and rhythms never let up, but still lets you breath. Incredible, classic vocals. Tasteful guitar all over the place. Everything flows. Song to song this album is a good feeling. U2 should be very proud of the album. I highly recommend it.
The Last Great U2 Album

U2 has made a lot of good music during the 2000s, but for me, 1997's POP is the last great and daring U2 album as a whole. It's sad that U2 seem to be ashamed of it (and most of their '90s work). Lot's of excellent B-sides and out-takes from this era as well!

This is the 3rd time I buy this album, and the first time I purchase it on iTunes, that alone should indicate that this album remains relevant to this time, perhaps it's not as good as Achtungbaby or Zooropa but this is still a good album, way better than the crap that U2 has made from 2010's and beyond.
Dude, the last 3 reviews for U2, sound excactly the same !
