Not The Best

By Joe Tonka
While some of The Smiths’ best songs are on Meat is Murder (Rusholme Ruffians, What She Said), overall this is the weakest of their studio albums. Among the albums other songs, some are too long (Barbarism Begins At Home), just kinda boring (Well I Wonder), or just ludicrous (the title track). Still, better than a lot of other music that came out in 1985, and it’s unfortunate that How Soon Is Now (which WAS on the original US release) is absent from the iTunes version.
CLASSIC FOR SURE!

And no, i didn't first hear about The Smiths b/c of How Soon Is Now, saw their shows, saw Moz's shows, have the albums, cassettes, and CDs but typical iTunes BS - not a complete Meat is Murder, gotta buy it on its own - what b*ll$**t.
Completely inessential

Of all the Smiths albums out there, this is by far the most inessential of the bunch. A smattering of great songs intermixed with Morrissey being a miserable wanker on the rest. If you're a completist this is OK, but you're better off buying one of the 8,000 Smiths compilations out there, or simply cherry-picking the Headmaster Ritual, Nowhere Fast, Well I Wonder, and That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore off of this album and creating your own "Best of".
Meat is definitely murder!

This is the UK version. Not the American. "How Soon is Now" is NOT included on this purchase. Just warning you.
